Elite Ice is all about helping you become the best skater possible, confidently moving around the ice at a high-rate of speed is vital to your success as a hockey player.

 

Our instructors have a unique skillset and share the ice with some of the best skaters in the game of hockey today. Their ability to teach skills such as edge work, transitioning and acceleration is what sets us apart.

A native of Orangeville, Ontario Shandor spent 3 seasons playing for The Sudbury Wolves in The OHL, suiting up for over 175 games. Following his OHL career, Shandor spent 5 seasons playing Canadian University hockey for The Lakehead Thunderwolves.

Following a 5 year career with The Lakehead Thunderwolves, Shandor began his foray into officiating. After 3 years of honing his craft in The OHL Shandor was hired by The NHL.

Shandor has been an NHL Linesman since 2014 where he's worked over 500 regular season games, 2020 NHL Stadium Series in Colorado Springs, the 2023 NHL Global Series in Stockholm, and was selected to officiate the 2024 NHL Conference Finals . 2023-2024 was Shandor's 10th season as a linesman in the NHL.

SHANDOR ALPHONSO

Following a brief junior hockey career, the Orangeville native elected to take up officiating as a way to stay involved in the game.

Scott is currently a linesman in The OHL and is a veteran of over 400 games. Scott also spent 6 seasons officiating professional hockey in both The ECHL and CHL. In 2014, Scott worked The IIHF Under 17 Hockey Challenge and was selected to work the Gold Medal Game.Scott was also selected to officiate The 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta as well as The 2019 Canada Russia Series.

 

Scott was selected to line The OHL Championship Series in both 2022 & 2023 as well as The 2022 Gretzky Hlinka Cup in Red Deer, Alberta. Scott has also spent the last 10 years running private skating sessions in Orangeville.

SCOTT LAWSON

Goalie Instructor Matt Gergely

As a new Orangeville resident, Matt is looking forward to working with the Elite Ice team. Matt has spent years as a goalie instructor with the Rick Heinz goalie school, as well as the Halton Hurricanes AAA program. Recently, Matt has also been assisting the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League as a local area goalie scout. Matt is currently employed by the Ontario Hockey League and is entering his 6th season with the league.
